Synopsis

While serving as a Juror on a murder trial that has political ramifications, Justin realizes that the man on trial might not be guilty as he was at the same place in the night of the murder.

Review

This movie had a limited release to theaters, and I am so sad for that, because this movie is outstanding. I am so glad that I got to watch with my wife and in-laws as this movie's ending will have you fighting, unless you are a lawyer. In which case, I'd love to know some answers.

However, the acting is superb. I recently was on jury duty myself and can tell you that the reasons that people try to get out of jury duty is crazy. There is also that idea of not trusting anyone and people who are against the grain and see things the other way. Everyone does a great job of playing their role as jurors, but the standout is for sure Nicholas Hoult which isn't a surprise. He does a great job of playing the role and I think the writing does a terrible job of allowing him to tell himself that it wasn't the girl and could have been a deer. As the story goes on it becomes more apparent that he remembers things that would imply he didn't hit a deer, but there is no way for him to sure.

As for the story, I think it is really well done. Clint Eastwood does a great job of making you question the story and wonder what is going on. However, I do wonder some of the events that happen for authenticity, but those question do not take away from the tenseness and stress you feel in the movie.

My Rating

This movie, just like American Sniper really shows you how good Clint Eastwood does as a fantastic job on telling an emotional story. The way flashback and character growth shows up throughout the movie is outstanding. This is a 9 for me. Great movie to start off the year.

Parental Rating

There is little to no language, it is about a family man trying to keep his family together, and there is no on-screen violence. There is nothing in this movie that would stop my parents from watching and enjoying this. Approved by both.
