Series Synopsis

John Wick is a man removed from his former life of murder, mayhem, and assassination to be with his wife. However, when attempting to recover from her death, he is pulled back into his former world when someone who didn't understand who he was killed the dog that his wife gave him.

This movie set a tone for most action movies that no one realized needed a change. We have made fun of movies that never reload, but this movie made realistic gun fights something that people look forward to. The level of dedication that the cast put into is so high.

This movie is basically part 5 and 6 of the first movie. On its own, it doesn't have the same level of punch to the story or the pacing that was in the first movie.

Since I am rewatching these, I really think the High Table is more afraid of John than we think and the story that is mentioned in John Wick about being a man of focus is something they fear. We do see that fear in John Wick Chapter 4.

John Wick 4 <– Link to Review Here

For the first time, we see the John Wick isn't just Baba Yaga. He has friends, and they are there to support him in his quest. I know Winston was his friend, but at the end of the last movie there was some ambiguity to that. I say all this to point out the evolving story telling in this series.

My Rating

This has to be the best series I have ever watched with consistency. In this house, as I have said in the reviews above, these movies have been watched at least 3 or 4 times. In fact, I just checked and saw that in the house in the last year it has been watched 3 times between everyone in the house. They are consistently solid movie to enjoy and be involved in. Great music and great fight scenes that you know took a lot of time to put together. Without thinking about it, I am giving the series a 9. It is the best series I have ever watched and hope that Ballerina lives up to it and doesn't drag it down like The Continental.

Parental Rating

The language throughout and the violence will keep my mom from watching it without fail. My dad will be in for the action, but will comment each movie about the "Unnecessary language." Approved by my dad, rejected by Mom.
