Synopsis

A new nun who is joining a monastery in Italy finds herself hated for her beauty and coveted by others for the same. However, those that covet her are after her for more than the beauty, but to bring about a new age.

Review

I am honestly not sure why I watched this other than it being the beginning of spooky season, and I am very sorry that I did. I was expecting a horror film and got a nun slasher film with plot holes and unanswered questions the size of a VW bus.

So in general, this movie had some promise and the only cast member making this worthwhile is Sydney Sweeney. The story is interesting with the lens of conspiracy and manipulation and a secret society-esq thing. However, that secret society is never explained even though they are the big bad, how an immaculate conception happened. The opening scene is never explained, which was a cool scene to set up this movie, but it isn't explained.

Like I said Sweeney does an outstanding job. She is poised when needed, scared when pushed and ready for what happens next. However, her character goes something that make zero sense like say "God Dammit" INSIDE the monastery after fighting someone. Everyone's characters were just lackluster at best. An 89-minute movie, there isn't enough time to flesh out any character or story and this is proof in point.

My Rating

I really wanted to like this movie. Sweeney is a great actress and I have been impressed with other things that she has been in, but bad writing and a craptacular story ruined this one. It's too short for anything of value to come from it and there aren't enough people to make it better. It is a woeful 5.

Parental Rating

The movie deals with spiritual birth, evil religious individuals, and just some unneeded language even in a foreign language. There is no fight scene to keep my dad interest. There is nothing of family to keep my mom involved. With some nudity and gore, this is rejected by both for content and rules.
