Review
This movie is well received and with good reason. It was very funny and the action with it feels good. There are some very interesting visuals in this as well. I mean the scene with Bradley Cooper is way funnier than it should be.
I think that might be my favorite part of this that really surprised me. The CGI and visuals felt really grounded and wasn't overly computer designed or distracting. I really saw some realism even in the Owlbear. Talking about the CGI, the setting and scenes looked really good. I know there is a blend of real and green screen, but it impressively well done and blended.
The cast does a great job playing their characters. I really enjoyed them and just how each person was very much their own archetype. If you have ever played DND you would know that each class as a very particular personality that they typically represent and each of them do it very well. I especially like the joke with Chris Pine being a Bard and wondering what is their point in the game.
My Rating
I don't have anything to be upset about this movie. Is everything perfect? No. Could it have been better? Sure, of course. There are some parts that are just dumb, but mostly I am super happy with it. This is an 8.
Parental Rating
There is no language, no sex, and the violence isn't graphic at all. While my dad isn't a big fan of magic, but it is a fun movie. My mom might like it. It is about getting back to family. So based on the rules, approved by both.
