Synopsis

A group of people at different parts of their life end up in a local community college. These eccentric people create a study group and become friends.

Review

This show is one of those that is either hit or miss, but to the extreme ends of this. This show also is a victim of a writers strike in Hollywood, so the final two seasons are a decent into madness and mediocrity.

Season 1 - 4 are excellent. The team grows and yet plays the same characters. They grow in the right direction as far as people, but keep the core of what made them fun to watch. Danny Pudi (Abed) and Donald Glover (Troy) are honestly what make this show. They do things that have no right being funny, but are and just hit you till you are chuckling about it late into the night. The rest of the cast, not you "Frankie", are outstanding and I enjoyed watching them. I hope if they do a movie that they all come back to tell one final story. I just realized that the final season was only on "Yahoo! Screen" which until this time, I'd never heard of. No wonder it all felt new to me.

Speaking of the story, most of the episodes are stand alone with some small exceptions which allows you to jump in and out. Obviously, the paintball episodes are the best, but there are some really good episodes. Then there are episodes that are absolutely catastrophic.

My Rating

Season 1 - 4 are so good. They made me laugh and really enjoy the show. Then there is season 5 and 6 where I have seen most of them, and they are miserable. There are some good points in there and some decent independent stories, but I don't think they add anything to the first 4 seasons. Without those 2 seasons I'd make this an 8. Highly entertaining and very good. With the last 2 seasons this becomes a 7 and maybe a 6. I'd split it and call it a 7.

Parental Rating

This show is all over the place on content and acceptability for them. Language is there, but since it was on national TV it is tempered. There isn't anything that would make this a family show. So for that, this is rejected by Mom. As for Dad, I am going to say rejected as well. The content and conversations are just not something he would support or be interested in.
