A Body in the Snow

Synopsis

Follow the court case of Karen Read vs. the Police about the death of her boyfriend, a Boston Police Officer. From a bad investigation, to a media circus, this trial is almost as dumb as Depp v. Heard.

Review

Look I need to start by saying whatever happened to the boyfriend is a travesty. Either his friends left him in the snow to die after some type of fight, or his girlfriend hit him with a car either on purpose or on accident and left him to die in the snow. He deserved better just as a human being.

Let's start with the counsel in this case. The first prosecutor was boring. While factually he may have been correct in the presentation of his data, the presentation is boring. This means that juries are going to mentally check out. The defense counsel was very charismatic and that made the difference for the jury I believe.

To be honest, I am not sure how to write this/talk about this. The case is going to be retried, it isn't over. So the "Truth" isn't really out there. What I will say is that Karen isn't the type of person who makes sympathetic juries.

My Rating

I think this whole documentary, even my review of the documentary, is doing what that one random podcast host was trying to do. Poison the jury pool. As a documentary, it is highly repetitive with an openly biased and manipulative story structure. I do not think it is worth watching. This is a 5.

Parental Rating

Lots of language, I mean they are in Boston, so not a big surprise there. No sex, but some conversations about it. Honestly, very limited photos of violence. There is nothing redeeming about this documentary for my mom so she is out. Dad is not going to care about the content so he is out. Rejected by both.
