57 Seconds

Synopsis

A blogger finds a ring that goes back 57 seconds after saving a billionaire's life. He then uses that right to attempt to right some wrongs.

Review

What a garbage movie. This should have been a made for TV movie because there is nothing of true quality about it. For instance, there are multiple times when they cut away from Greg Germann while he is talking, and you can hear them do a voice-over. This isn't an issue in general, but they obviously had to go back and rerecord some of it because the volume on these lines is about 3 levels higher and a different quality microphone. It is blatantly obvious.

In fact, all the narration really takes away from this movie. We've seen time travel movies/TV shows galore. However, this one doesn't pay off. It is never explained why only 57 seconds rather than ANY other time, the AI knows everything, but doesn't say anything, and just in general all the tech is hidden behind techno babble that is supposed to sound smart. At least when Back to the Future made up words, Flux Capacitor, they explained it, and you were able to suspend the disbelief because it was an in-universe story. This is using real scientific theory without reality or explanation that allows us to believe.

The acting is simplistic. No one feels good, no one feel bad. The story doesn't evolve, and the ending is forced and predictable.

My Rating

This should only be a plane movie. It is hard to really get into the movie. It is basically the same story as Project Almanac with the twist that the person who pushes the button is moving through time but they movie without disturbing themselves. I already mentioned the fact that without explanation, you just can't get into it and that makes it hard to care. Was I entertained for the 1.5 hours of the movie and flight? Sure... but I could easily have been side tracked by anything. Even an ant on my plane would have been just as entertaining. It is a 4 like the critics say, not the 6-7 that viewers say.

Parental Rating

There is language throughout, some sexual assumptions, and some violence. The violence, specifically the gun shooting looks terribly fake which makes it easy to ignore. The language is also really forced and stupid. It was always weird like it was added later. I don't know. Mom approve due to the rules and Dad is out. However, I don't think she will enjoy it.
